Certificate in Sandplay Therapy & Symbol Work
- with Children, Adolescents & Adults
Course created by Mark Pearson and Helen Wilson
Offered in: MELBOURNE, CAIRNS, SUNSHINE COAST, Qld., SINGAPORE, The Czech Republic.
Sandplay Therapy is a hands-on, expressive counselling and psychotherapy modality that has been in use for over seventy years. Sandplay forms a bridge between verbal therapy and the expressive therapies, combining elements of each. Sandplay allows the deeper aspects of the psyche to be worked with naturally and in safety, and is highly effective in reducing the emotional causes behind difficult behaviours. With an extensive research and literature base, Sandplay is a powerful therapeutic method for use by established professionals. It has been used with children, adolescents and adults, in schools, hospitals, welfare agencies and private therapy practices. This is the most extensive training in Sandplay therapy available in Australia. Fifteen days over four workshops.

participation: Completion of the Institute’s Certificate in Sandplay Therapy & Symbol Work
As well as professional renewal through self-work, and
supervision, this program provides advanced understanding of the ways
attachment theory and trauma-informed practice can be incorporated into
therapeutic work with miniatures. We will review Kalff’s sandplay process in
the light of recent neurobiology and neuroscience discoveries. We will explore
how to enhance the quality of being with a client, through our own practice of mindfulness
and self-compassion. While adapting practice in response to client needs
through a pluralistic approach, we will focus on supporting hope and resilience
across the therapeutic journey. Summaries of the supporting evidence base for
contemporary sandplay practice will also be provided.
